| Viad, GES third quarter revenues fall |
Viad, the parent company of GES Exposition Services, reported a loss of $97 million in the third quarter as revenue dropped nearly 40 percent from the previous year. Revenue totaled $181.1 million, down from $302.3 million during the same period last year, as a result of negative show rotation and the impact of the economic recession, according to Viad.
GES' third quarter revenue dropped to $106.6 million, down from $203.3 million during the same time last year, a decrease of 47.6 percent.
“Though the general economy is beginning to show signs of improvement, the trade show industry lags macro-economic trends,” says Viad Chairman, President and CEO Paul B. Dykstra. “As evidenced by our strong results in 2008, we were slow to follow the recession, and we expect to lag the broader economic rebound.”
